What is a Google Ads Report?

A plain read on how your Google Ads account is doing, sent to Slack or email. This Google Ads reporting template covers spend, clicks, conversions and CTR, how spend is trending, which campaigns are driving conversions, and full campaign and ad-group tables.

It is the fastest way to see how paid search is performing without opening the Ads dashboard. Budget pacing and spend are watched between reports, so overspend, a broken conversion tag or a runaway campaign gets caught before it eats into the budget.

What reports don't tell you

Reports tell you what happened last week. They don't tell you when something changed between reports.

A weekly Google Ads report shows that spend was higher than expected. It doesn't show that spend doubled on Wednesday night after someone edited a budget. It doesn't show that CPA jumped 40% on Saturday when nobody was checking. By Monday, the report shows the damage, but the damage is already done.

What can change between Google Ads reports

  • Spend doubles overnight after a budget edit
  • CPA jumps 40% over the weekend
  • A campaign becomes limited by budget and stops showing ads
  • Conversion tracking stops recording data after a site update
  • Smart Bidding raises bids aggressively after a high-conversion morning

These changes don't wait for your next report. They happen between cycles, outside office hours, over weekends, and after edits. A report can show the damage. It can't prevent it.

Monitoring

How teams stay ahead between reports

Many teams now pair their Google Ads report with continuous monitoring. The report gives regular visibility. Monitoring checks every hour and alerts the team when something changes.

The result: less time logging into Google Ads, faster awareness when budgets drift or conversions drop, and confidence that campaigns are running as expected between reporting cycles.

  • Continuous baselines. Each metric learns its own normal — what's typical for a Tuesday morning vs a Saturday night.
  • Severity ranking. Only deviations large enough to act on become alerts. Quiet days stay quiet.
  • Slack and email delivery. Reach the team where they already are. Same channels as the report.

Why it matters: At this rate the campaign would exceed its weekly budget by Thursday. The next scheduled report will not arrive until Monday.
